Recently, Hoa Phat announced to raise the price of two types of construction steel by 200,000 VND per ton. Specifically, CB240 steel coil is currently priced at 13.94 million VND per ton, D10 CB300 rebar steel bar is higher, at 14.24 million VND per ton. Other enterprises such as Viet Y, Viet Duc, Kyoei... also applied an increase of 150,000-200,000 VND per ton of steel. Pomina specifically raised the price to 340,000 VND for type D10 CB300.
Thus, the price of this material has increased four times in a row in the past month with a cumulative increase of more than 300,000-500,000 VND per ton. The price adjustment started at the end of November when manufacturers added 150,000 VND per ton. That was the first time steel prices increased after nearly three months of standing still. However, the price level of this material is only at the level of July this year and approaching August 2022, which is still in the low price range of the last three years.
Steel prices increase continuously when the market is in the peak construction season at the end of the year. Although residential real estate projects are still stagnant, people's habit of building and repairing houses helps the construction industry gradually warm up. In addition, public works are also being urgently implemented to be completed before the new year.
According to a recent report, Vietnam Steel Corporation (VNSteel - TVN) achieved sales output of over 324,300 tons, up 53% over the previous month and up 36% over the same period. Of which, construction steel contributed over 235,600 tons, up 62% and 19% respectively.
Data from the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) also shows that the market is warming up. Steel sales of all kinds in November reached more than 2.5 million tons, up 13% over the previous month and up 30% over the same period in 2022.
